SBED Joint Industry Partnership (JIP)

SBED was developed in a consortium of eight major upstream energy companies including:

• BHP Billiton
• ExxonMobil
• ConocoPhillips
• ENI
• Total
• BG

Major areas of research done by the consortium included:

• Modeling geological heterogeneity at the lamina scale (below well log resolution)
• Upscaling from lamina scale to full-field scale
• Heterogeneity modeling at the reservoir facies scale

SBED and ReservoirStudio are the result of these ground-breaking efforts, which have also produced many seminal papers in the field of cross-scale reservoir modeling.
