Geomodeling Releases SBEDStudio™ 4.0

August 6, 2008

(Calgary, Alberta) Geomodeling Technology Corp., the leading innovator in geoscience software, is pleased to announce the newest release of SBEDStudio. Version 4.0 is a software update release. This version includes one new feature, several improvements and a number of bug fixes as part of Geomodeling's ongoing commitment to its user community.

NEW FEATURE

Export a facies grid as a GSLIB grid file

Geostatistical Software Library (GSLIB) is a generic ASCII file format that can be supported by many reservoir modeling software packages. This export feature allows you to use SBEDStudio's detailed facies models as training images for multi-point statistics (MPS) in many third-party software applications. In previous SBEDStudio versions, the Export to Regular Eclipse Grid function provided grid output that could be used as MPS training images. However, the generic GSLIB format can be read by more third-party applications.

IMPROVEMENTS

Improved layer modeling method for faulted zone

Layers are now parallel (conformable) to a user-defined boundary surface. This improved modeling approach generates more geologically accurate models for faulted zones.

Improved simulation algorithms for channel levee architecture

Changed simulation algorithms for modeling channel levees assure:

  • Levee distribution is now independent of user-defined channel thickness
  • Parameters for thickness-dependent decay and elevation-dependent decay of channel levees generate a more accurate distribution of levee thickness away from the channel
  • Levee layers within a group of channel-levees are not truncated
  • Top elevation of the levee at the channel is equal to the top of the channel
  • Background layers can now be modeled between groups of channellevees
