Advanced Software for Near-Wellbore Rock Property Modeling

CALGARY, Alberta–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Geomodeling Technology Corp., a leading provider of innovative software for the upstream oil and gas industry, today announced the release of SBED(TM) 4.0 and SBED 4.0 for Petrel* near-wellbore modeling software.  SBED provides breakthrough technology that models small-scale sedimentary details and generates accurate reservoir properties for use in reservoir modeling and simulation.  SBED 4.0 is a new, cross-platform version offered on both Microsoft Windows(R) and Linux.  SBED 4.0 includes a redesigned user interface and many new features that enhance its realistic core-scale modeling and fluid flow simulation workflows, including a new workspace with interactive data managers and multi-scale visualization.

SBED 4.0 for Petrel is a new product that includes all the features of SBED integrated into the Petrel seismic-to-simulation workflow environment through the Schlumberger Ocean* Application Development Framework.  Using SBED 4.0 for Petrel, geologists, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers can transfer facies and well data from Petrel to SBED, generate accurate permeability, porosity and oil/gas/water saturation curves from realistic geologic models, and transfer the results directly back into Petrel to create improved property models.  SBED 4.0 and SBED 4.0 for Petrel also include synthetic core plugs, a new bioturbation module, well log upscaling and enhanced bedding structure template management.
